Instagram and Tea Party

I hope everyone is having a good weekend, we are finally getting some sunshine around here and I am so excited about that! I don't have any cookies to work on until tomorrow night so we plan on being outside all day!!!
I was contacted by Stephanie about doing some cookies for one of her clients who is doing a giveaway. She asked me to do the company logo and the instagram camera. I have been wanting to do the instagram camera for a while so I was so happy to do these!! Here is what I came up with:

The Mother Letters logo

Thank you Stephanie for asking me to do these, I am excited to work with you again!

Next I did a tea party theme set for a baby shower.

I love these colors and the theme. I went with a teapot, a silver spoon, cups and saucers, and a teacup.

When Tiffany contacted me about doing these she asked if I could use the trellis print that was on the invitation. I figured the best way to do this was to hand paint the print onto the cookie with white dye. I didn't have a stencil so I just freehanded them. By painting them instead of icing them they came out looking like China and I love that!

This was the first time I have "painted" a cookie. I will use it a lot more now that I know what I'm doing.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, we are off to play outside!!!

Black and White

My last out of town order for this week was for a black and white wedding shower. I did a simple white cookie with a black scalloped outline and a black monogram.

One thing I have learned in the past 6 months is that people in the South like their Monograms!
I have to say I am one of those people too, I just love the look of a monogram on a cookie!!

Speaking of Monograms, I am getting ready to do my very first giveaway!!!!! I am SO excited about doing this. I am going to be giving away store credit to Elle and Ollie Etsy Shop. For those of you that haven't checked this Etsy shop out GO DO IT!! Kari Beth makes the cutest stuff. I will be doing a separate post with all of the details but I'll leave you with a pic of some of her cuteness :).

Go check out her shop!!!

Owls and Flowers

I'm sorry I didn't get this posted yesterday like I said, we were busy celebrating my Dad's birthday all day. I could not ask for a better Dad, so Happy (belated) Birthday Dad!!!

I started off the week with 3 fun orders, Owls & Chevron, flowers, and a tea party theme. I am sad to say that I didn't get a pic of the tea party but I have another one this weekend so I promise to take a lot of pics. I did get good pics of the other two orders so here they are!

I get a TON of orders for these owls. These are for a sweet new baby girl!

Welcome sweet Ellen Jane!!!

I also did a fun flower set for a sweet girl who wanted to surprise her Mom with something special after she had surgery. I thought some flowers would be bright and cheerful.

I used the same colors as the owl order and added some yellow. I also used sanding sugar in the middle of the flowers to give them some texture. I'm looking forward to doing more of these!

I have a fun and exciting order coming up. I was contacted by Stephanie to do some cookies for one of her clients who is doing a photo contest. The cookies are going to be so cute so check back Friday for a pic!! But until then I have a "black and white" order that I will be posting tomorrow.

We are gearing up for some flash flooding in our area and I am NOT looking forward to it! The last time this happened the entire highway by our house was shut down. There's just something about being trapped at home that makes you feel like you need to leave ASAP. I have a hair appointment tomorrow so I may be rowing there but I'm not missing it! :)

Pinterest Inspired Smash Cake

I just took out of town cookie orders this week so that I could focus on a smash cake and cupcake order that I had this weekend. This was a little out of my comfort zone but I was really excited to do something different and change it up a little bit! I did the smash cake for sweet Finley who is turning 1, and his party is a "Candy Bar" party. Its going to be so cute ya'll, the invite we got was a giant lollipop with the invite printed on the front. CUTE!!! So I went along with the colorful theme and thanks to Pinterest came up with this:

Cute, colorful, and very "Candy Bar." This was my first smash cake so I was just learning as I went. I hope to do more cakes in the future becaue I really enjoyed doing it. I also did 3 dozen "white on white" cupcakes with this order.

I made a few extra and we are finishing them off tonight :). I have to stop this because my sister is getting married in 8 weeks. It will not be pretty if I don't.

Happy Birthday sweet Finley!!!!!

On another note I'm gearing up for some BUSY weeks ahead. I counted the cookies I will make in the next month and it was around 1,000. If ya'll think of me pray for good time management!! My most important job is a wife and mom and I don't want to slack because I am baking. I have a lot of fun orders coming up and I'm excited to share them. I'll be starting off the week with a tea party order, an owls order, and a flower order. But while I am not baking, I will be loving on these sweeties....

This was before P began to hug and love on her. She automatically goes into defense mode when he approaches her because 50% of the time he is not hugging.

And this was after :).

We had a fun day of eating, playing and going to see the Lorax. We took Taylor with us and she did pretty good! Jason took her out once and rocked her to sleep and brought her back. She slept until the end of the movie so it worked out perfectly. Parker is an old pro at going to movies, he and his daddy do it often!

I'll be posting my first cookie order of the week tomorrow!

Toy Story

I have had a lot of fun with this weeks orders, and this one was a blast! Parker watches Toy Story at least once a week and has a Woody doll that goes a lot of places with us, so I was well studied for these cookies :). When this customer ordered these she told me that her little girl was crazy about Woody (which I think is so cute) so I centered the order around him and Bullseye and threw a few other toys in.

I had to draw the line somewhere on what characters to include, so now I need someone to order a Buzz Lightyear order so I can do him and Mr. Potato head. :)

These are headed to North Carolina!

Thank you for the emails about the shipping post, I'm glad I was able to answer some questions!

Lingerie Cookies and Shipping

This week started off with another lingerie order, and I thought this would be a good one to show everyone how I ship cookies. I am having so much fun "meeting" people from all over and being a part of birthday parties, showers, and celebrations all over!

So when I got this cookie order, I was told that hot pink and black would be a preference for colors, but that the bride wasn't too "girly" so maybe some blue thrown in too. So I took those colors and made some fun corsettes, nighties, bras and undies.

I thought these turned out cute!

Now onto shipping......

These are my shipping neccesities. A box, bubble wrap, tape, packing tape, scissors, bags, and a hair straightener. Yes, a hair straightener.
After the cookies have dried overnight, I bag and seal each one airtight. To do this I use a hair straightener to seal each bag. I promise I have never used this hair straightener on hair :).

And while you are bagging them, do not jump up when you hear the microwave timer go off and smush a cookie, because that's what I did. I made myself feel better by eating it.

Next, I roll out my bubble wrap and lay two cookies face down ready to wrap.

I then roll the cookies in the bubble wrap.....

and repeat with another two cookies.......

until I have six cookies per "bundle."

Next I cut my sweet child a peice of bubble wrap so that he will quit crawling all over my packing supplies and trying to pop all of the bubble wrap.

After I have all of the cookies wrapped in bubble wrap I line the bottom of the box with a generous amount of bubble wrap and place the cookies inside standing upright.

I layer more bubble wrap, more cookies, and fill the empty spaces that are left with newspaper or more bubble wrap.

Lastly I tape the box with packing tape and write FRAGILE an obnoxious amount of times all over it.
(This pic was before)

These are on their way to Austin, TX!

The cookies stay fresh for about a week. I actually think longer when they are sealed airtight, but I never bake an order earlier than 7 days before the party.
I also always keep the cookies in an airtight container. The only time they are out is if I am icing them or they are drying. I try to keep them as fresh as possible.

I hope this answered some of your questions, feel free to email me if you have any more!!

Next up, Toy Story!

Tom and Jerry.....and Scissors

I ended this week with a fun Tom and Jerry order. We LOVE Tom and Jerry around here, and Parker was so excited to see these done :).

After I got this order I began to search for some Tom and Jerry cutters. I only found one set of cutters, and it was a vintage set from 1956. So I now own my first vintage set of cutters and they are in perfect condition. I just thought that was so fun and neat!

I'm not going to lie, these were very time consuming. I was so happy to finish the last one and box them up!!!

The other big topic at our house this week was........

scissors.

Parker has found a new love for scissors and for cutting everything in his sight.

Victim #1

Yes, Parker snipped her ponytail. I nearly had a heart attack and searched all over the house for the cut hair with no luck. I mean is this her first "official" hair cut?!?!?! I wanted to put it in a baggy. O well.

Victim #2

This doll was a little creepy anyway, but after her haircut she is really creepy. I found Parker in the act on this one and had to really try hard to keep a straight face. After he cut Taylor's hair I took the scissors away for 2 days and this is what he did about 5 minutes after I let him have them back to cut paper.

Let's just say all of the scissors are hidden and I'm not sure when we will be pulling them back out.

I'm going to do a shipping post Monday on how I ship cookies. I have had a bunch of emails about how I do this so I thought this would be a good way to show everyone!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
