My Little Chef

I took it easy this week and only booked 3 orders because last week nearly killed me :). So we have had a laid back, fun week. I haven't been feeling good, so my SIL Kari Beth kept Taylor today while Parker was at KDO and I came home and did absolutely nothing. It was GREAT. Thank you Kari Beth!

Jason has been asking me for a few days to make him some peanut butter cookies, so tonight after dinner me and Parker got to work.

I have always used the Betty Crocker recipe, and I use 1/4 cup of honey instead of brown sugar. In my opinion there is no better peanut butter cookie. The honey makes a big difference in taste and it is SO good, not to mention its my dad's homegrown honey which makes it even yummier!

After we mixed all of the ingredients we added some extra Reese's pieces because Jason loves anything Reese's.

We definitely had to sample the dough and make sure it was ok.

This picture makes me laugh every time I look at it. This girl loves her some food and will try anything. I gave her some dough and she was so happy.

Next we rolled each cookie in sugar and made a "crisscross" pattern with a fork on the top.

amd then waited patiently...........

until they were done!!!!!

If you don't have a favorite peanut butter cookie recipe try this one.

Betty Crocker Peanut Butter Cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup packed brown sugar, or 1/4 cup honey (I use honey)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour

1. Beat Butter and Peanut Butter on med. to high speed for 30 seconds. Add the sugar, brown sugar (honey), baking soda, and baking powder. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in the egg and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour.

2. Shape dough into 2 inch balls. Roll in additional sugar to coat. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten by making crisscross marks with a fork. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 7 to 9 minutes.

Baby Crew and Fireman Party

I hope everyone is having a good week, ours has been fairly relaxed which I needed this week! I only took 3 orders this week so that I could have a few days of just being with the kids.
I started off the week by doing some sweet cookies for Melissa. Baby Crew decided to come a little early and she wanted some cookies to give to visitors. She told me Crew had a light blue chevron print in his room, and that she wanted to use a modern elephant shape for one of the cookies. I went for a modern and sweet look for these and loved how they turned out!
I love, love LOVE the blue and yellow together!

My second party this week was a fireman party for a sweet little boy turning 3. His Mom was so sweet and basically just took my suggestions and let me run with it! She decided on fireman hats, 3's with a dalmation print, fire trucks, and hydrants. This was my first fireman party so I was super excited to do these!

These are headed off to Texas this morning!

I have one more party this weekend and the theme is Tom and Jerry. FUN!!!! Parker loves Tom and Jerry so I will definitely be making a few extra :).

Flying High and Cherry Chip Cake

First of all I want to thank everyone for their sweet messages, phone calls, emails and kind words about the news peice. I feel so blessed at all of the doors that are opening and it is so encouraging to have friends to share it with! I finished up this week with cookies for a vintage airplane party, and a cherry chip cake. A perfect end to a good, crazy week!
When I got the picture of the party supplies for this party I was super excited because the colors are too perfect. Very boy, very simple, and very cute!

I was so excited to use my cloud cutter because I just think its too cute! This was also my first time to do an airplane and I'm ready to do another party with this theme because I loved it. This just screams little boy!

This was my my last cookie delivery this morning so I decided to make a Cherry Chip Cake for Jason and the kids tonight. Every year I always request this cake for my birthday because its so good. Yes, my Mom still makes all of us our own homemade birthday cake every year :).
I am so happy to share this recipe with ya'll because I think its another one you will love!

Cherry Chip Cake

Ingredients
1 boxed Betty Crocker Cherry Chip Cake
oil
water
3 eggs
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 tub Cool Whip
1 jumbo Hershey bar

1. Bake your cake according to directions and let it cool completely.

2. Take the end of a wooden spoon, and make holes all over the cake. This is where it gets good :)

3. Saturate the entire cake with the sweetened condensed milk, making sure you get it in all of the holes.

4. Cover the cake generously with Cool Whip. I usually use about 3/4 of a tub but I don't think theres such thing as too much.

5. Shave your chocolate bar with a cheese grater and cover the cake.
6. Sit down with a giant fork and eat it. Theres really no need to cut a peice because you will just keep going back to the pan for a bite. :)

I will post some pics of my taste testers tomorrow because I know they will want to test it out. They were snoozing when I made it.

I have some FUN parties coming up this week, including the one and only Tom & Jerry! I am so excited to do these!

I'm also thinking of doing a set of cookies here and there and putting them up for sale, first come first serve. Would this be something ya'll would be interested in??? I had a sweet twitter friend suggest some Hunger Games cookies, so I'm thinking if I do this that may be my first set. Let me know what ya'll think!

If you go to my prices page you will notice the price of my cookies has gone from $1.50 to $2.00 per cookie. After being advised by numerous people who are in business for themselves that I needed to do this I knew it was time. When I started making cookies in October, I had no idea I would have so much time in each cookie. I quickly knew I was not charging enough to make it worth my time so I had the choice to either simplify my cookies, or charge more. I really didn't even consider simplifying my cookies because I really feel like I have just gotten started in the creativity department. I want my cookies to stand out, and I want each customer to be 110% happy. I hope ya'll understand.

Construction Party

I was planning on posting the promised Rock Star cookies today, but after looking through my camera I realized I did not take one pic of the cookies. I am so mad at myself. I will try to get some pics from the customer and share them!
On to party #3, and on a totally different note, construction!! These were for Aaron's 3rd birthday:

He loves backhoes so I did these with some hard hats and sent them off to TX!!

Many of ya'll ask how I do all of this with my kids. Well, I don't really know. A ton of late nights, lost sleep, and a grandma here and there :). I will occasionally decorate during the day while the kids are playing, but I don't really like to do that and here is why:

Sigh. Someone found my address stamp (for a 2nd time). Both times he has gotten it he attempts to paint his body from head to toe. The last time he did it his arms were completely black. He also got my couches and ottomans.
I laughed because I couldn't help it and sent him straight to the bath. I mean come on, look at that sweet face :).

CUTE party #4 up tomorrow! I promise!

CARS

This has been the busiest week I have had making cookies. Even though I have been working like crazy, all of the orders have been so fun. I had my first CARS order this week and I thought these turned out so cute!!!
I used a little different technique than I usually do to give the cars a little dimension. I am looking forward to doing these again!!
I will be posting a Rock Star order later tonight, and I promise I will get to the cake recipe!!!

Newsworthy

So, does anyone want to know what my scary fun thing I did today was?!?! It was this:

Last week my sweet friend Sydney  ,(who's hubby Tom is a local news anchor) emailed me and asked if I would be interested in Tom doing a story on my cookies. After feeling like I was going to barf and hyperventilating, I agreed. So today Tom came over and filmed and did my interview.
I think Sydney is one of the nicest people I know, and Tom is the same way, so I honestly had no nerves by the time I had to talk. I'm not going to lie though, I am not looking forward to seeing myself on TV or hearing how awful my voice sounds, ha!

Thank you to those who said a prayer for my nerves, I felt them!
The peice will air Thursday morning and evening on the news.

A big thank you to my sweet hubby who kept the kids all day so that I could get ready for this. He just let me do my thing and took care of everything. Thank You Jason!

I'll be back with a YUMMY cake recipe later!
